Felted Wool Babushka Nesting Dolls — Hand-Felted Set of 6 | OmaOmaOma

Description

The whole point of a nesting doll is the small revelation — the smallest one inside the next smallest, all the way up. Children do the ritual over and over, and it never really loses its charm.

Ours takes the classic Russian babushka form and translates it into felt — soft where the traditional version is lacquered wood, warm where the traditional version is hard. Six graduated dolls, each hand-felted in Nepal from 100% New Zealand wool. A family that fits in one hand.

Ethically made

100% New Zealand wool, hand-felted by fair-trade artisans in Nepal. Every piece is made by hand — no two sets are exactly alike, and the workers who made yours were paid fairly for the skill it takes to felt wool this way. No plastic. No batteries.

What’s included

Six hand-felted wool babushka nesting dolls, graduated in size. Largest approximately 7” tall. Every set is slightly different from the next — handmade, not machine-made. No assembly required.

Who it’s for

Ages 3 and up. Made for Big Builders and Brave Creators — pretend and tend, narrate and reflect as each doll gets a name and a place in the family. This is display-and-play — a child will nest and unnest them a hundred times, then arrange them on a shelf. Fine-motor precision, sequencing, and storytelling with a whole family of dolls.

Every purchase gives back

Through B1G1, every OmaOmaOma purchase gives back, supporting education and the environment. Toys worth keeping — because the things we put in children’s hands shape the world they grow up in.

FAQ — six questions

1. Safety — Are these felted wool nesting dolls safe for a three-year-old?

Yes. All 6 dolls are sized for the recommended age range. 100% New Zealand wool, soft throughout, no plastic parts, no small parts hazards for this age.

2. Materials — What are they made of?

100% New Zealand wool, hand-felted by fair-trade artisans in Nepal. No plastic, no batteries, no electronic components.

3. Durability — Will these last?

Hand-felted wool holds its shape for decades. Every doll is made by hand, dense and structured, meant to be nested and unnested thousands of times and then handed down.

4. Origin — Where are they made?

In Nepal, by fair-trade artisans who hand-felt each piece from 100% New Zealand wool. Fair trade means the artisans are paid fairly for the skill and time each piece takes. We are proud to name where our toys come from and who made them.

5. Age fit — Are these the right nesting dolls for my child?

Ages 3 and up. A three-year-old will nest and unnest them and start naming which one is which; a five-year-old will invent a family story; a seven-year-old will still line them up on a shelf. Longer-lasting than most nesting dolls thanks to the soft form.

6. Assembly — Does this require assembly?

No. They arrive ready to nest.
